An inventory of your spiritual gifts starts with a simple conviction: God has already given you charisms (spiritual gifts) — and knowing what they are changes how you serve.
A spiritual gifts inventory is a structured set of questions that helps you identify which spiritual gifts — in the Catholic tradition, charisms — you are most likely to have. You may also see the same kind of tool called a spiritual gifts assessment, test, or quiz. The names differ, but the purpose is the same: taking honest stock of how God, through His grace, has already been working through you, so you can put names to your gifts and start using them on purpose.
The Church's teaching behind this is beautifully direct. The Catechism says charisms are "graces of the Holy Spirit which directly or indirectly benefit the Church" (CCC 799), that every baptized person has received them, and that discernment of charisms "is always necessary" (CCC 801). An inventory is simply a well-organized first step in that discernment.
